WESTMINSTER & THE FINISH
By kind permission of St Thomas's Hospital, DW establishes a series of marquees in the garden of the hospital. These provide changing room and shower facilities, a canteen preparing hot food for paddlers, a tea and coffee point for supporters and the DW merchandise shop.
The race finishes just downstream of Westminster Bridge and paddlers and their boats are brought ashore at a flight of stairs in front of County Hall by the Steps Crew. Please note that these stairs and the walkway in front of County Hall are private property and we are only granted access on condition that we do not cause an obstruction to members of the public. Keep well back from the area at the top of the stairs and follow the instructions of marshals.
On arrival at Westminster all boats must be carried to vehicles parked at the Hungerford Bridge car park or along roads around the South Bank and Festival Hall.
There is no parking in the Hospital Car Park for school minibuses, high vehicles, canoe trailers and other vehicles with roof or canoe racks. Support vehicles without roof racks may use the car park. . Any attempt to load boats in the vicinity of the Hospital will be penalised. The car park will be marshalled by DW Staff.
Please remember also that the steps area and walkway is designated a no-alcohol area by the police so any celebratory champagne should be opened and drunk elsewhere.
